The new 2014 BMW 3 Series makes its debut at the 2013 83rd International Geneva Motor Show next month. Not only the 3 series makes its debut, but also the BMW M6 Gran Coupe, BMW Z4 Roadster, and BMW Concept Active Tourer as well.
The 3 series BMW GT will be offered in the U.S. with badges featuring 328i and 335i numbers at the beginning of this summer. The 328i models feature the 2.0-liter turbocharged V4 engine which produces 240 hp (177 kW) and torque of 255 lbs-ft. While the 335i models feature the 3.0-liter turbocharged inline six cylinder engine which produces 300 hp (221 kW) and torque of 300 lbs-ft. An 8-speed automatic transmission is a standard for both, the 328i and 335i, models.
The Gran Turismo exterior’s proportions are 3.2 inches taller than the 3 Series Sport Wagon’s and 7.9 inches longer. The new model also has 4.3 inches of extra wheelbase compared to the wagon model, which adds 2.3 inches of extra rear legroom. That makes the 3 series GT be larger than the sedan and sports wagon. Trunk capacity is also bigger than the BMW 3 Series Sports Wagon’s. 115 inches wheelbase is the same size as in the BMW X5. The exterior offered in Estoril Blue paint color is the only one M Sport Line model from the 3 series BMW.
The interior has plenty of space on the rear seats, and even 3 adults can sit very comfortable at the same time. It also features seating positions that are 2.3 inches higher compared to the 3 series sedan’s. The BMW GT has a greater rear leg room than the 5 Series Sedan.
The tailgate of this GT can be opened with a movement of the foot under the rear bumper — thanks to a standard electric tailgate with an optional Smart Opener. A standard storage package bundles a variable attachment system using two rails integrated into the load compartment floor, a remote release function for the rear seat backrests, a sliding retaining net, and a gas pressure spring for the load compartment floor.
The front sport seats are included in the 3 Series Gran Turismo M Sport Line model. Also, an exterior Aerodynamic package and 18-inch or 19-inch M-Design aluminum wheels are included too. Besides all that, the M Sport Line also includes M steering wheel, M driver’s footrest, M doorsill finishers, M sport-tuned automatic transmission, M Sport suspension, and individual BMW high-gloss Shadowline trim.
No official news has been given about the price of this new 2014 BMW GT, so we can’t post anything about it at the moment. Maybe the price will be announced at the 2013 Geneva International Motor Show which starts on 7th March — Only time can tell.
