In 2011, BMW celebrated 75th anniversary of the legendary BMW 328. For that celebration, BMW created this magnificent BMW 328 Hommage Concept.
The original BMW 328 is a sports car produced between 1936 and 1940. It has a 1971 cc straight-6 OHV petrol engine. The engine can produce up to 79 hp (59 kW) at 5000 rpm. The car features a 4-speed manual transmission, and it weighs only 830 kg (1830 lbs).
The BMW 328 produced between 1936 and 1940 has a wheelbase of 94.5 inches (2400 mm). Its width is 61 inches (1550 mm), height is 55.1 inches (1400 mm) and length is 153.5 inches (3900 mm).
The original car also was a race car. It had more than 100 wins in 1937, including the La Turbie hillclimb, the RAC Tourist Trophy, and the Österreichische Alpenfahrt. It also won its racing class (2.0 litre class) at Le Mans in 1938. Besides this, in the same year, the car also won the Mille Miglia, the RAC Tourist Trophy, and the Alpine Rally.
The 2011 BMW 328 Hommage Concept, in the picture above, features a 3.0-liter straight-6 (I6) engine. The car also weighs only 780 kg (1720 lbs). It is made mostly of carbon fiber reinforced plastic, that’s why it is so light.
The new BMW 328 Hommage concept can be just simply called as a magnificent automobile. It looks so good that most BMW fans would like to have it. That is for sure that not just BMW fans would like to have it, but most people would like to have it as well. The car has a very nice design. It looks good inside and outside. Just a perfect concept for celebrating such a great anniversary.
