A lot of people forget, or they don’t know that there are some things that must be checked regularly on their cars. Because of that, a lot of people damage their cars without even knowing about that. Below we’re going to explain what 5 things you need to regularly check on your car to prevent damage to your car.
Before we explain all that, we just want to mention that some of you might already are familiar with all this. However, there are a lot of people who don’t know these kind of simple things. Also there are even more people who don’t know at least about 1 of 5 things mentioned below, so keep reading, and maybe you’ll find at least 1 of 5 (or more) things that you might miss.
1st – You have to regularly check your Antifreeze, especially if you have an old car. Normally if you have a new car, you can check it maybe once in a few months or at least twice a year. If you have an old car, you better check it at least once in a few months or even more often because there might be some leakage of it (common problem in old cars). Without antifreeze you can damage the water pump and your engine as well.
2nd – You have to check your Air Filter at least 2-3 times a year. When less than 50% of the filter lets light through when held up to a 100-watt bulb, that is the time to change it. Because of a bad Air Filter, there can be 10% increase in fuel consumption, plus dusts are bad for your engine as well.
3rd – You have to change your Oil every 5000-6000 miles (~8000-9500 km). If you don’t change your oil regularly, you’re risking of damaging your car’s engine. Also bad oil shortens your car’s engine life span.
4th – You have to check your Brake Fluid regularly. You should change it every two years, or when you feel that your brakes feel soft. Bad brakes can lead to accidents. Also it can cost 60$ or more to replace pads.
5th – Transmission Fluid and Filter is the last thing you have to regularly check on your car. You should check it at least once in a few months. You also have to change it every 3 years or after 36,000 miles of driving. Dirty or low fluid can cause problems with shifting and transmission failure, and repairs can be expensive.
So here it is, all 5 things to regularly check on your car. These are might simple things, but all must be followed in order to keep your car in good condition. Also, if your car gets broken, you can always check one of the good companies like Sacramento auto mechanics or any other reputable company for your auto repairs.
