Car of the day – White 5-series BMW E28 4-door sedan 1920×1080 HD

The 5-series BMW E28 started its productions in 1981 and ended in 1988. In all these years, the total number of produced BMW E28 cars is 722,328. A lot of cars, isn’t it?

The least powerful (from petrol engines) model (518) has a 1.8-liter (1766 cc) four-cylinder petrol engine. This engine produces 101 hp (75 kW) at 5800 rpm and torque of 103 lbs-ft (140 Nm) at 4500 rpm. The most powerful model (M5) has a 3.5-liter (3453 cc) six-cylinder petrol engine. This engine produces 282 hp (210 kW) at 6500 rpm and torque of 251 lbs-ft (340 Nm) at 4500 rpm. Two different diesel engines are available as well — a 2.4-liter six-cylinder and a 2.4-liter six-cylinder turbocharged.

Car’s dimensions: wheelbase – 103.5 inches (2628 mm); height – 55.7 inches (1415 mm); width – 67 inches (1700 mm); length – 182 inches (4620 mm); curb weight – 3020 lbs (1370 kg).

All BMW E28 models acceleration times for 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph): 518 & 518i – between 12.6 and 13.7 seconds for “i” and 14 seconds for “518”; 520i – between 11.4 and 12.1 seconds; 524d & 524td – between 12.1 and 12.9 seconds for “td” and 18.1 seconds for “d”; 525e & 525i – between 9.9 (i) and 10.7 (e) seconds; 528e & 528i – between 8.4 and 8.9 seconds for “i”, unknown for “e”; 530i – between 7.2 and 7.5 seconds; M535i – 7.2 seconds; M5 – 6.5 seconds.

As you can see from the stats above, the 530i, M535i and M5 are quite fast models. You can say similar things about the 528i models as well, because these are not that slow either. However, the 524d is definitely not a car for you if you hate slow cars, because this particular model is really slow. It is the slowest and weakest model of all BMW E28 models.
