10 Characteristics Of The Cars Of The Future

Technology is growing exponentially today. What in the past took literally centuries to develop, today is a matter of decades or even years. The motor car as we know it now, was created by Karl Friedrich Benz for the first time in 1886 in Germany. Twenty years later, during the industrial revolution, Henry Ford began producing chain cars reaching 15 million copies. However, in just a little over a century, its transformation has been almost total. From its speed, which at first was 20 km/h, to the total revolution in terms of entertainment and functionality? But if in just a century we have seen these changes, what is it that awaits us for the next decades? These are the ten characteristics of the cars of the future:

NO MORE EMISSIONS

The reality is that today we are already witnessing the cars of the future. In 2017, electric cars were put into operation 2.0, which can cover 300 to 400 kilometers without the need for recharging. It is estimated that by the year 2030, at least in Germany and in some other countries in northern Europe, there will only be electric cars circulating. The highways will have loading poles, which will allow charging the battery in less than 10 minutes and gasoline cars will be a thing of the past. By 2050, gasoline cars will be absolutely a thing of the past and electric cars will be the only alternative.

ZERO JAMS

The connectivity that will exist between all the cars in circulation will allow keeping safety distances between them. In case of emergencies, all the cars would break at the same time and, in situations of traffic jams, the vehicles will be distributed intelligently by different alternative routes to avoid traffic jams.

AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY CALL

By 2018, all cars registered in the EU will have the ability to issue an automatic emergency warning in the event of an accident. This will greatly reduce the severity of traffic accidents by reducing the waiting time.

AUTONOMOUS CARS

In the next five years, it will be possible to drive on autopilot within the cities. These autonomous cars in addition to having the ability to overtake in automatic, will be able to detect traffic lights and signals, and being connected to services such as Maps or Waze, will intelligently know how to autonomously choose the ideal routes. Initially, the driver will continue to be important for certain responsibilities, but in the long term (by 2025), fully autonomous cars will take over the streets.

PERSONAL ASSISTANT

Autonomous cars will go far beyond the ability to drive by themselves. The cars of the future will have the ability to know our tastes and preferences to perfection. Through facial recognition, the cars of the future will know even before you get into your vehicle, what is your preferred temperature, what music you like to hear, predict your destination and will have smart notifications, for example, traffic jams, flight delays in case of going on the way to the airport, weather forecasts, etc. This cutting-edge technology is already being developed by Jaguar Land Rover, and is called Smart Assistant.

TAXIS WITHOUT A DRIVER

Thanks to the autonomous driving, taxis will be able to do without a driver, giving rise to robot taxis. Taxis will pick up their clients without a driver and you can request this service through your mobile, where you can also indicate your destination and travel preferences. The Uber company is already developing the necessary technology to launch the first robot taxis in the United States soon.

SHARED CARS

By the year 2025, there will be many less own cars and more shared. The idea of having a car parked unused, will become obsolete and private cars will start to rent for hours or days.

SECURITY

The cars of the future, will have the ability to always maintain the safety distance, rear and front, of other cars thus preventing accidents. In addition, you can brake automatically and you can park autonomously to avoid, in addition to serious accidents, everyday scratches. In addition, the material that will make the cars of the future will be much more resistant to shock and damage, the current materials will be replaced by ultra-resistant steels, plastics and foams.

INFRASTRUCTURE

But a moment … before continuing with the rest of the characteristics of the cars of the future, we must bear in mind that without the necessary infrastructure it will be very difficult to start up the cars of the future at their maximum expression. The cities will have to have the capacity to supply electricity to the cars that need it. This does not only mean having enough recharging points, but also adapting the electricity network of the cities. And of course, before the flying cars enter the scene, the infrastructure will also have to be adequate.

SPACE AND COMFORT

By not needing more engines, radiators and other elements that guarantee vehicular mobility through gasoline, cars will save a lot of space. In addition, when the driving becomes 100% autonomous, the space for the steering wheel and the driver’s seat will no longer be necessary. This space will be used in its entirety for the comfort of the passengers. The interior of the vehicles will be transformed into living rooms in which passengers can relax, rest and even work. The vehicles will also have total connectivity, offering a perfect space to work and to offer complete entertainment. This will not only happen in private cars but also in urban transport.

FLYING CARS

Currently there are already several models of flying cars. Again, Uber is present and has already announced that its first fleet of Uber Elevate flying taxis will be in circulation starting in 2020 in Dallas and Dubai. On the other hand, the company Google has also been responsible for developing a model of flying car, the Kitty Hawk Flyers that will be on sale soon. However, to start using them on a daily basis and replace them with cars of the present, it will be required to literally prepare the ground, regulations, space adaptation and above all the acceptance of the public and for this, there is still time.
